Dr. Maynika Rastogi was born in Trinidad and Tobago. Daughter of a veterinary geneticist and a livestock scientist. She enrolled in the faculty of medical science at University of the West Indies at the Mt. Hope campus in Trinidad from which she graduated with honors in Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Following a general internship, she matched into The State University of New York (SUNY Downstate) pediatric residency program where she completed her post-graduate training in pediatrics followed by a year as a Chief Resident. At graduation she was awarded the Samuel L Fisher award for excellence in teaching. In 2008 she moved cross country to Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to begin a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology which she completed in 2011. While at OHSU Dr. Rastogi completed a Certificate in Human Investigations and had the good fortune of presenting at several conferences. She currently resides in Coos bay where she is happily married with two kids aged 2 and 4 years old. Her husband Dr. Raphael El Youssef is a surgeon here at NBMC and they are very excited at the prospect of life on the coast. She spends her spare time cooking, taking her kids to the park and listening to classical music with her son.
